50 Taters was highly recommended by several local stores we visited when we asked what was good to eat around here. We were not disappointed.

Excellent atmosphere and food. Parking lot was nearly full but we were quickly seated. Waitress service was a bit slow and completely non-existent near the end of our meal. We had to ask another server for a to-go box. A positive was the food was served hot and it was really good. We’ll go back for the food and hope for better service.

Took our church group there today...about 60 people. This place is SO awesome! Home cookin, portion sizes are huge, and specials everyday. Meant to take a pic of the menu, but was too busy eating Service was fantastic, esp with a group that large right as they opened at 11. If you go for lunch, I suggest you go a little before 11, the place fills up fast. Don't miss this place (or the fried taters ) if you are in the Scottsboro area. The pics are a cheeseburger and onion rings, hamburger and fries, and a hamburger steak (with brown gravy, onions, and mushrooms), green beans, and fried taters. Yum!

Traveling between Huntsville and Atlanta and decided to try this place. Holy cow, it's SO good! It was packed and there were people waiting outside to be seated, but they got us seated in less than 10 min. Our server was a sweetheart. I broke my rule about not eating BBQ at an establishment that doesn't specialize in BBQ, but I wasn't disappointed. Their pulled pork was amazing, and so was their sauce (for the BBQ snobs who don't think BBQ should need sauce- it didn't need it- I just like sauce). I had onion rings, and they were also very good (kind of a sweet vidalia maybe?). I stole some of my husband's corn nuggets, and they were yummy (creamed sweet corn). I also filched some of my brother's fried okra, and it was very fresh and delicious. All three of us left stuffed and happy.

I loved it! Very unique place with great atmosphere and good food. I got the Bama cheese steak with onion rings, the onion rings were great, light and crispy! Service was great, but we got there right when they opened.

While traveling near Scottsboro today, my brother, grandson and I chose "50 Taters" as our lunchtime restaurant. The exterior is a unique blend of country western kitch that helps draw attention to the establishment. But another sign of a great restaurant is the number of cars in the parking lot just after 11am, on a Wednesday. We found a parking spot on the side of the building and only had a short walk to the front door. Once inside, the old country theme continued, with lots of wood, an open ceiling and touches of mismatched architectural elements. You are allowed to seat yourself and there was a small table in a corner near the salad bar that we grabbed. We were promptly provided menus and ordered the "wine of the south" - sweet tea. The tea was excellent - fresh, sweet and not watered down at all. After several minutes of studying the selections, my grandson chose fried catfish, my brother selected the BBQ sandwich and I went for the Cuban sandwich. Both my brother and grandson favorably commented on the sweet tea and immediately dug into their food. They were both highly pleased with their selections. My Cuban was perfect - the crusty bread, ham, pork, cheese and pickles made for one of the best Cubans I've ever had. And the prices were very good. Just look at the photo of the menu below. For example, the Surf and Turf with an 8oz filet and a skewer of grilled shrimp for only $20. That menu item near where I live would be $40 or more. I highly recommend 50 Taters for the food, service and charm. It will definitely be on my list of places to return. And just for fun, I asked one of the employees where the name 50 Taters came from. He said "I don't have a clue -- I guess it's just a name someone came up with". I hope someone can provide a better answer.

We had lunch today at 50 Taters after recommendations from a few people. It was busy but we didn’t have to wait and the staff was on top of everything. I had the shrimp skewers with tater salad and green beans. It was delicious but more than I could eat. My hubby had the Reuben and macaroni and cheese. He said it was very good, as well. We will definitely return. The food was as affordable as fast food but so much better!!
